offers scenic mountains, valleys, canyons, mesas, lakes and rivers,
plus all the recreational activities that accompany these natural
wonders like hiking, mountain biking, skiing, fishing, camping,

Our Facility:
A great hospital needs
many things: a state of the art facility, expert staff,
outstanding physicians, advanced technology, helping hands in
the form of volunteers, and a supportive community. Montrose
Memorial Hospital is a regional medical center serving a diverse
population spread over a large geographic area. The hospital has
more than 550 employees and more than 80 physicians on staff
representing 22 medical specialties. It offers an extensive
range of healthcare services including the San Juan Cancer
Center, Cardiology Services, Rehabilitation Center, Family
Birthing Center, Same Day Surgery, Complete Medical
Imaging/Radiology Facilities, Intensive Care Services, and
satellite clinics in the tiny communities of Olathe and Naturita.
Justifiably proud of
it’s reputation for providing state of the art medical care,
Montrose Memorial is also proud to be known for its personal
service and its involvement in the community. While always
striving to keep its technology on the cutting edge, the
hospital has remained faithful to its small town roots,
reflected in the hospital’s description of the care it provides
“as friends and family caring for friends and family”, and “high
tech, high touch” referring to state of the art care dispensed
with a caring and compassionate attitude.
In addition to providing
high tech medical care, the hospital strives to be an integral
part of the community it serves, leading the way in improving
and maintaining the health of the entire population. Hospital
programs run the gamut from community health lectures to breast cancer support groups and migrant
health programs to the annual health fair. The culture of
community service is nurtured between and among the staff at
Montrose Memorial. Hospital leadership is encouraged to
exemplify the role of a good citizen and become involved in the
workings of the community outside the hospital. Many employees
are involved with local groups and activities and contribute
countless hours of volunteer work. Numerous staff members have
received awards for their community service efforts and the
strong bond between the hospital and the communities it serves
is continually renewed and strengthened, to the benefit of all.
Montrose Memorial
Hospital was founded March 5, 1950 by the county of Montrose and
has been providing high quality healthcare to residents of its
service area for more than half a century. Originally a 25-bed
hospital, it has been remodeled, expanded and upgraded several
times including in 1975, 1985, 1998 and 2005. The hospital
campus has doubled in size and is now a 75-bed facility. It
offers complete and diverse specialty care and focuses a great
deal of its education, marketing and financial resources towards
making its service area a healthier place. As a community grows,
so must its delivery of healthcare. In this rapidly expanding
part of southwestern Colorado, Montrose Memorial Hospital plays
a vibrant and vital role in maintaining the health of the
community it serves and attracting people to the area
